The Goal: Clear Surfaces, Not a Pre-Clean
The most common misunderstanding about preparing for a cleaning visit is that the house needs to be cleaned before the cleaners arrive. It does not. The goal of preparation is to remove obstacles that prevent the team from cleaning effectively — not to reduce the amount of cleaning they have to do.
Pick Up Clutter From the Floor
Items on the floor prevent vacuuming and mopping from being done thoroughly. Shoes, toys, clothing, pet items, and anything that is not furniture should be moved off the floor before the team arrives. This is the single most impactful thing you can do to improve the quality of a cleaning visit.
Secure Valuables and Fragile Items
Put away any items that are particularly valuable, irreplaceable, or fragile. This is not because professional cleaners are careless — it is because accidents happen and removing the opportunity removes the risk. The Estrellas team is insured, but prevention is always better than a claim.
Communicate Priorities and Concerns
If there are areas you want the team to focus on, surfaces that require special treatment, or products you prefer not to be used (for example, if you want eco-friendly products only), communicate this before the visit. A brief note or a quick call before the appointment ensures the team knows what matters most to you.
Ensure Access
If you will not be home, make sure the team has a clear way to access the property. Provide gate codes, building access information, or a key drop arrangement in advance. Last-minute access issues are the most common cause of delayed or shortened cleaning visits.
