The Three Phases of Post-Construction Cleaning
Professional post-construction cleaning is typically organized into three phases. The rough clean happens during or immediately after construction, removing debris, large dust deposits, and construction materials. The light clean follows once the work is complete, addressing surface dust and preparing the space for the final phase. The final clean is the detailed work done just before occupancy: cleaning windows, polishing fixtures, removing adhesive residues, cleaning inside cabinets and drawers, and ensuring every surface is ready for use.
What the Process Covers
A thorough post-construction clean includes vacuuming all surfaces (including walls and ceilings where dust has settled), cleaning all windows inside and out, removing construction stickers and adhesive from fixtures and glass, deep cleaning all bathrooms, cleaning HVAC vents and returns, wiping down all cabinetry inside and out, cleaning all flooring, and a detailed walkthrough to catch anything missed.
The HVAC System
One of the most important and most overlooked aspects of post-construction cleanup is the HVAC system. Construction dust that enters the system will be redistributed throughout the space every time the system runs. Changing the filters after construction is complete — and considering a professional duct cleaning for major renovations — protects air quality long after the visible dust has been removed.
