This includes cleaning inside the oven, inside the refrigerator, behind and under appliances, inside cabinets and drawers, scrubbing grout lines in tile, cleaning baseboards and door frames, washing light switch plates and outlet covers, cleaning window tracks, and detailed work on bathroom fixtures including hard water treatment. A deep clean of a two-bedroom home typically takes around three hours.
When Each One Is Appropriate
Deep cleaning is the right choice when: you are moving into a new home, you are moving out and want your deposit back, you have not had a professional cleaning in more than three months, you are preparing for a large event, or you are coming out of a period when the home received minimal attention. Regular cleaning is appropriate for ongoing maintenance after the initial deep clean has been done.
The Recommended Sequence
The most effective approach is to start with a deep clean and then move to a recurring schedule. Trying to maintain a home on a regular cleaning schedule that has not been deep cleaned first means the buildup underneath never gets addressed, and the results are always somewhat unsatisfying.
